We always try to match the colour of the existing mortar in the best way possible. Various pigments can be added to get basic colours such as black, red, yellow, brown, and orange. However, producing an exact mortar match is extremely challenging. One difficulty faced when mortar matching is when the original mortar colour has faded or become polluted in various places, leaving behind an inconsistent colour to match. Another difficulty is that, over time, the sand used in mortar is excavated from different locations of the quarry, resulting in slight variations in the mortar. Matching mortar colour is a tricky process, but we custom pigment our mortar whenever possible to achieve the highest aesthetic quality.
